LAKE TITICACA & SALTPAN OF UYUNI

DAY 01: Arrival to La Paz

Arrival to the airport of La Paz, Bolivia. Attendance and transfer to the selected hotel. Overnight.

DAY 02: La Paz: City tour and Valley of the Moon

Breakfast. Full day city tour visiting the city of La Paz at 3600 metres above sea level. Nested in a valley of incredible topography, seat of government, full of contrasts between old and modern, with its eternal guardian and majestic snow-covered Peak of Illimani. We will visit its typical markets like: the Sagárnaga Handicraft Market, the Market of the Wizards and the Indigenous Market. The Church of San Francisco, the Plaza Murillo Square, Palace of Government and the National Congress. The Jaén Street, representative of the colonial time and narrow stone cobbled street that lodges the Gold and the Costumbrista Museums. Then we will go to the semi-underground Museum of Tiwanaku, the bridge of the Americas that unites the two traditional districts of Miraflores and Sopocachi. Arrival to the Viewpoint of Killi-killi. After lunch we will visit the mysterious Valley of the Moon, tourist attraction with strange particular stone formations, the product of water and wind erosion, it almost looks like a real lunar landscape Return to the hotel and overnight.

DAY 03: La Paz - Titicaca

After breakfast, transfer by land towards the Titicaca Lake to board the type catamaran cruise ship, navigation towards the Isla del Sol or Island of the Sun, cradle of the Inca Empire. On this legendary island we will visit the Inca Garden, Stairs and fountain, later the itinerary includes the visit to the Cultural Complex Inti Wata, the main private tourist attraction of Bolivia, which includes the underground museum of the Ekeko, the Centres of traditional medicine and construction of totora reed rafts, the Pachamama terraces of Inca agriculture, an artisan centre, the Intica refuge and the greatest variety of local Andean cameloids in the viewpoint "Manco Cápac". The visit to the Complex Inti Wata also includes the possibility of sailing on board an immense typical raft of Totora and of making a panoramic visit to the Inca palace of Pilkokaina. In the evening, we will go in the catamaran towards Challapampa; during the trip a buffet lunch is served. Challapampa is a small and solitary population to the north of the Island of the Sun where the opportunity is offered to experiment a half day of existential tourism. The settlers of Challapampa, through a program organised with them, receive the visitors in their houses and their school: The chapel, a small museum implemented by they themselves is visited, you participate in ancestral rituals, folkloric demonstrations and you can sail in their small totora reed boats. Also, the program includes a long walk through Inca footpaths visiting the Inca temple of the Chinkana, a candle light supper and rest on board of the catamaran in staterooms with outside view and private bath.

DAY 04: Titicaca - La Paz

Breakfast. In the morning, breakfast buffet while we sail in the catamaran towards Copacabana, where we will visit the Sanctuary of the Virgen Morena or Black Madonna. Transfer by highway to the city of La Paz. Overnight.

DAY 05: La Paz: Snow-clad Peak of Chacaltaya

In the morning, guided visit to the world's highest ski resort at 5300 metres above sea level. . From the height the view covers the vast high mountain plains or Puna, in which to the distance the vigilant figure of some snow clad peaks of the Royal or Eastern Mountain Range is admired as is the case of the Huayna Potosí. Return in private car to the city of La Paz. Afternoon free. Overnight.

DAY 06: La Paz / Uyuni

Breakfast. Breakfast. We will leave the city of La Paz towards Uyuni (10 hours of trip approx). Overnight.

DAY 07: Uyuni - San Juan

Soon of breakfast, we will visit the Cemetery of Locomotives, the Salt Pan of Uyuni, the Water Eyes in the Salt Pan, the Blocks of Salt, the Fish Island. At night, lodging in houses of villagers of the population of San Juan.

DAY 08: Uyuni: San Juan - Laguna Colorada or The Red Lagoon

Breakfast. We continued by the Southwest, parallel to the border with Chile. We cross other salt deserts like: Chiguana, also some small lagoons like: Cañapa, Hedionda, Honda and Chiarkhota, where we will see flamencos, ducks and rheas. Soon we cross the desert called "Rock Valley" that has very peculiar rock formations and we arrive at the Red Lagoon, where we will spend the night in town houses.

DAY 09: Uyuni: Laguna Verde or Green Lagoon - Laguna Colorada or Red Lagoon

Breakfast. In the morning, we continue our route towards the border with Chile, going through Porkes, Laguna Salada or Salty Lagoon, where we will find sculpture wells, geysers, and fumaroles and finally we arrive at Laguna Verde or Green Lagoon, located by the foot of the Licancabur Volcano. Return in the evening to the Laguna Colorada or Red Lagoon to overnight.

DAY 10: Uyuni: Laguna Colorada or Red Lagoon – Uyuni

Breakfast. Return towards Uyuni going through: City of Stones, to finally arrive at Uyuni. Note: In regular service we will leave at midnight. If the service is in private, we will leave early the following morning.

DAY 11: Uyuni - La Paz

Return trip of return from Uyuni to the city of La Paz. Overnight
Meals: None

 

DAY 12: International departure

Transfer to the airport to board your International departure flight.
